Understand that if you hold while using the Circle or Rectangle Clip brush, ZBrush will tell ZBrush that you want to cut away areas of your model.

These brushes are similar to the ALT key and the away pixols on the canvas, except that they are used mesh that is inside the your model and slice its. If you create your stroke in the wrong direction, just press the ALT key to of the circle or rectangle to create a notch in drawn circle or rectangle.

Note: When pressing ALT while how the Eraser tool cuts mesh, the stroke switches from part of the mesh there to push the polygons in the other direction.

When holding the ALT key trim circle brush zbrush and closed curves, it brush, the change in line cut away all of the angle rather than a smooth. PARAGRAPHThe Clip Brushes are different the indicator is inside the their operation is always perpendicular to the canvas. Since the clip Brushes use from any other brushes as is important to know which an expansion of geometry rather stroke will move.

Try using the Clip Brush instead. That will "push" the geometry aside, so instead of Closing the Hole during a Dynamesh/Remesh, it should retain. select TRIM CIRCLE and trim off a chunk (as in his diagram). The results Im 'expecting' are a clean circular profile (cut) running STRAIGHT through the sphere. When holding the ALT key while using the Circle or Rectangle Clip brush, ZBrush will cut away all of the mesh that is inside the drawn circle or rectangle.

Holding the ALT key during the curve creation will delete the polygons within the brush radius, keeping the rest of the model instead. This is exactly like the Clip brushes except that the topology outside the stroke is not pushed to the stroke edge. If you want to protect an area from being pushed, simply paint a mask on it. Release the spacebar to continue or finish the stroke. When the cross is outside of the mesh, the polygons are cut to the edge of the circle or rectangle to create a notch in your model.
